You're at the /glossary section of an nfoWare.com web site.  This section provides the glossary that is part of the nfoWare effort.  The first use of the glossary will be in support of Situating Data.

This section is in early construction preparations.  There will be further expansion of descriptive material as we get going.

A major challenge for the glossary is undertaking of a spiral development approach that does not spiral out of control:

• The glossary is an instrument that I want to have be available and accessible to users and from eBooks, help files, and so on developed as nfoWare.
• The development of the glossary - compilation of a lexicon - is an activity the automation and data processing of which are to be provided as an nfoWare data processing instrument.
• I don't know how I will do it.  I might start making manual glossary pages, and then figure out how to do the development, the search engine, etc.  It has to work from a file system as well as from a web site, so that is an interesting challenge also.
• The glossary is a public project that can be annotated, cross-referenced to other definitions and such, and be discussed.  Someone could use a local copy of the glossary as their own annotated one, could build one that "transcludes" this one from a read-only medium into a local annotation and derivation, and it is all supposed to work.
• There might be glossary pop-ups from other pages (again, working no matter where those pages are processed from, so long as it is in a browser), and so on.
• This takes a project.
• This is tied to the "Feuding Lexicographers" scenario.

This page, index.htm, is part of the engineering, construction management, maintenance, and infrastructure of nfoWare.com.  You are welcome to explore and see how the site is constructed.   Just don't forget your hard hat.

This is not the main entrance to the glossary web presence.   The entrance is at the glossary default page.   If you are unable to reach or navigate beyond the default entry, return later.  The entrance is blocked off whenever the construction crew is blasting in the area.
